Based in Madison, Wisconsin since 2000,
Round the
Bend blends
Bluegrass, Old-Timey, and Western Swing in captivating versions of
traditional songs that evoke nostalgia, love lost and found, and
barn-dancing fun. Spirited vocals, tight harmonies, inventive
instrumentals and down-home humor have delighted audiences of all ages at
parties, festivals, community concerts, weddings, and senior centers.
Tailoring
selection of tunes to hosts' requests, the band offers concert-style shows
or low-profile background music.

Sherry Crownhart, mandolin, has performed with Just Friends,
the Wildwood, and Bluegrass Caravan. Her vocals reflect diverse styles in
country music. |

Don
Engelhart,
guitar, is best known for his music with the local group
Just Friends where he played banjo and pedal steel. Don also enjoys
classical music and jazz. |
 |
Carolyn Hegeler,
plays melodic and Scruggs-style banjo. A long-time
student of banjo legend Alan Munde, Carolyn has also studied with Craig
Smith. |

Fred
Newmann, fiddle, has studied with Laurie Lewis, Byron Berline, Fletcher Bright,
Dale Morris, Sr. His musical interests have evolved from
classical to Dixieland, swing, and bluegrass. |

Patrick Spaay,
acoustic bass, after playing electric bass rock n’ roll, played
acoustic bass with the Quarter Tap String Band. Currently he also plays
guitar and banjo in the Tin Can String band. |
